Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is BMI?
BMI or Body Mass Index is a calculated number based on a person’s height and weight. It’s used as a guide to determine whether or not an individual is within a normal weight range for their height. The current values are as follows: less than 18 is underweight, 18-25 is normal weight, 25-30 is overweight and above 30 is obese. At Lighthouse Weight Loss you will learn your BMI on your first visit.
2. Why is it important not to be overweight or obese?
Having an abnormally high and unhealthy percentage of body fat can increase your risk for many serious health problems including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Type II diabetes, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, and certain types of cancers among other things. Reducing your weight can diminish your chances of these conditions occurring.
3. I’ve tried other diets before with little success. How is your program different?
Our program is a combination of key elements that when implemented together will result in successful weight loss. Nutritional counseling on portion control and calorie counting, reduction in your hunger with the use of our appetite suppressants, along with a increase in your metabolism as a result of B12 injections will allow you to reach your weight loss goal quickly and comfortably.
4. Will I gain the weight back after I’m finished with the program?
Helping you to maintain your goal weight is part of our program. Our program doesn’t end when you reach your goal, in fact losing the weight is only half the battle. Keeping the weight off is the other half. And at Lighthouse Weight Loss we have a commitment to our patients. During the maintenance phase we are here to support and guide you while you are incorporating all that you learned on the program into your lifestyle. Reinforcing these healthy eating changes is key to insuring your continued success.
